Hi. Recently i changed my address so i had to let the car insurance company know about that. But they charged(actually are willing to chage) me 423 pounds !! Yes, there's not a misspeling. It's 423 . As far as i ve seen, most people get charged no maximum than 50 pounds for this change. Also, there are no changes on my policy. I still have a garage, i still do the same mileage/year and so on. They even confirmed that there's no change in policy details except the new address. The new address it's in Manchester (central area) and before i lived in Bradford(UK). Now, in the mean time, i had a claim. If i would have found about this fee before, i would have cancel my insurance policy but now that i have a claim, i can't cancel it anymore and being refunded (as i paid the insurance for 1 year in one go, Not monthly). I found about this crazy 423 fee only now when i had this claim. You can't find anything about any fees related to changing the address neither on my policy papers nor on their website and online policy books. I suppose they considered this fee just as an administration fee. And i suppose they could have charged me even 10 000 pounds as an administration fee just because they can. I don't feel protected by the company anymore !! that's why it's an insurance company, to protect and take some risks out. The insurance company it's Admiral. I tryed to talk and explain them that this fee it's just nuts but they didn't agreed. The fee it's about 1/4 of the total insurance cost for 1 year. Maybe they try to take advantage of the fact that i can't cancel it (coz i have a claim in process) and i can't get refunded ? Any ideea how should i proceed ? At the moment I have decided to hold off on purchasing a new vehicle. My previous car was a lease, the lease expired and at the moment I do not have a car in my name. My independent insurance agent is telling me that if I do not keep up a policy at even a low rate, when I do get a car (whenever that might be) and then get a new policy I would be subject to a surcharge. For this reason we are doing something very basic to keep a policy in place. This seems really strange to me and raises a question why do I have to have car insurance if I do not have a car? Why should I get a surcharge when I do get a car at a later date? This almost seems like once you're in the auto insurance system, you cannot get out without penalties. Seems a lot like the insurance industry is trying to get everyone to pay into the system with or without a car. And if that's the case this sounds awfully like the auto insurance industry has already set precedent on the health insurance industry. What am I missing?

I was issued a speeding ticket today in Illinois (cook county) and I have a question regarding one of my options: If you are 18 years or older, to avoid a conviction on your driving record, plead guilty, register for traffic safety school, pay $115. So let's assume that I pay the fine and complete traffic safety school. My question is regarding my insurance company...do they see that I was issued a speeding ticket but completed traffic safety school or is there no trace of it at all? I've read many things about this; some say that the ticket remains on record but simply does not count against you. Others say that the ticket will be on record and the insurance company can still choose to raise your rates but there is no penalty with the DMV for speeding. I'm hoping that the ticket is completely thrown out as if it never happened but I'm not sure. I have state farm insurance by the way.

We rent an apartment at a big complex and each unit gets a carport. If you can picture it, it's just one large, covered structure with two 4'x4' wood poles separating each port. What would be a good FIRST CAR?

i'm a 15 year old who has a birthday a little ways away, but i'm trying to get a good idea of what i might get for my first car. my preferences: -nothing the cops would pull over late at night for suspicion of younger driver. i plan on sneaking out, and my city has a curfew, for everyone 16 and under. -i would LOVE for it to be rear-wheel drive. this isn't really needed, but i'd love for it to be. -my parents are spending no more than $10,000 on the car, and it'll be have to be used. -airbags. (parent requirement.) -insurance can't be too high. as in, not sporty. nothing like a mustang or anything along those lines. -it can't be BMW, jaguar, infiniti, cadillac, lexus or anything like that. my mom said they're snobby or grandma cars. -no SUV. (also parent requirement.) -i'm not a hatchback fan. -GOOD GAS MILEAGE!!!!!!! cars i had in mind were: nissan altima mitsubishi lancer mazda3 ford focus honda accord i'd like for you to mention the year of the car, too, if you know it.

18 Year old car insurance.?

Hello, I am looking at car insurance and the cheapest I can find is between 2,800 and 2,999 based on a corsa and the price changes depending on the year I put. I do not want a fancy car just something safe, secure and that I can drive. That quote only changes by about 50-100 by adding my mom and it goes up not down by doing so. This quote is tracker based with insure the box. Please can you advise on cars that may be cheaper or ways to cut the cost. I have had a licence 4 months but will be 5 in the new year so i am basing it on that. When just trying quotes based on 6 month licence (coming up soon) and with a 1 year no claims (can do with no claims accelerated insurance but not may companies and they say they not quote me) and the price was 1,8500. I have gone uninsured for over a few months in Iowa due to being dead broke & am looking into getting coverage again....are there any companies that offer lower penalties than most or no penalties at all? Hello there. I was wondering if anybody ever heard about car insurance rates increasing because of extra people in the house. My wife and I will be staying at my in-laws house for a few months and we have our own vehicles with insurance so therefore we will not be driving my in-laws car. I recently received my first and last dui. I currently have USAA and pay about 60 a month for coverage. I am 31 years old and have a clean driving record. I had a tint violation when I moved to another state.There was no accident involved with the dui. Will USAA drop me? I do know I will need SR22 once my work permit gets approved.

Is it possible to get insurance for my 2 year old at a low rate WITHOUT insuring myself or my husband? We tried getting on our state's medicaid program (which was originally started for people who couldn't get health insurance through their jobs but left that behind long ago!) but of course my husband and I make too much money. Every insurance quote we've been given has been astronomical and we'd have to insure one or both of ourselves to get insurance on the baby. What can I do??? I have life insurance with State Farm. I quit smoking on a daily basis 2 years ago but had a cigarette and 1 hit of marijuana on June 18th of this year. I told this to the underwriters because I wanted to be completely honest. All blood work came back negative for nicotine (Cotinine) and THC. State Farm charged me the smoker's rate and said I can get it reevaluated in 1 year. My agent told me I should have lied since it was just the 1 cig. I am not happy paying the smoker's rate as I don't consider myself a smoker. I called an Allstate agent and she says I can go thru her and just say no this time when asked by the underwriters about smoking. My question is, do they have the State Farm phone interview with the underwriters stored somewhere in some database and they will know I smoked the one cigarette or will I be ok just going thru Allstate and saying no to the smoking question this time?
